South Western Railway officials inspect JSW Steel facilities, discuss ways to boost operational efficiency

Hubballi: Mukul Saran Mathur, General Manager, South Western Railway, on Friday conducted a window trailing inspection of the SSS Hubballi–Toranagallu section to assess operational and safety parameters.

Sushil Noval, Executive Vice-President of JSW Steel, received Mathur at the Toranagallu JSW plant.

The GM inspected the South Yard of JSW Steel, and engaged in discussions on raw material handling processes.

He praised the current operational practices at JSW Steel and underscored the need to maintain high standards of efficiency and safety in materials management.

Additionally, he visited the North Yard to review the handling of rolled steel coils and discuss strategies to optimize operations.

Noval also briefed the GM on JSW Steel’s ongoing and upcoming projects.

The discussions centered on increasing loading capacity to support 25-axle loads, addressing challenges related to wagon unloading, and expanding the number of Train Examination (TXR) points within the JSW premises to enhance rake turnaround time and streamline loading and unloading operations.

JSW officials also sought an increase in supply of CC rakes to facilitate the transport of finished products over longer distances.

Plans were outlined to boost business development by expanding rail transport to cluster-based destinations within a 100-200 km radius.

Bela Meena, Divisional Railway Manager, Hubballi, Prashant Kumar, Principal Chief Operations Manager, Praveen Kumar Tiwari, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer, V. M. Dashputra, Chief Rolling Stock Engineer and other senior SWR officers were present during the discussions.
