A high-level state delegation from Karnataka, headed by former minister and current MLC N.S. Boseraju officially met the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, recently and Andhra Pradesh Minister for Irrigation, Nimmala Rama Naidu.
The delegation travelled to extend a formal invitation to the Andhra Pradesh leadership for a major upcoming event celebrating the successful replacement of all 33 gates of the Tungabhadra Dam.
The delegation, specially deputed by the Chief Minister of Karnataka, D.K. Shivakumar, included MLA Basavaraj Raya Raddi and MLC Basanagowda Badarli.
The Karnataka Chief Minister personally requested his Andhra Pradesh counterpart to accept the invitation and participate in the landmark celebration.
The event is officially scheduled to take place on June 25, 2026, directly at the site of the Tungabhadra Dam.
Karnataka is hosting the event, which will also see participation of Union Minister of Jal Shakti, C.R. Patil.
The celebration marks an engineering and administrative triumph, as all 33 gates of the Tungabhadra Dam have been successfully replaced by new gates in a record timeframe.
This massive infrastructure upgrade will reportedly ensure the safe operation of the dam for several decades ahead.
Calling the engineers’ achievement ‘exemplary’ and ‘appreciable,’ Shivakumar noted that this success was made possible through the seamless cooperation of all partner states — Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.
