Soon, guidelines for better use of AI in Karnataka’s medical education sector

Bengaluru: Mohammed Mohsin, Additional Chief Secretary (Medical Education), recently announced that guidelines would be released for the better and effective use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) — which has expanded considerably at the global level — within the Department of Medical Education.

Speaking at a workshop held as part of the “Campus to Career – Future Ready University of Colleges” summit organized by the Department of Higher Education at a private hotel on Friday, Mohsin stated that this would be of great benefit to the youth.

He also mentioned that a protocol and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the use of AI was being considered for release.

Mohsin elaborated that attention was also being given to the ethical use of AI in this regard.

An Innovation Centre is set to come up at the sprawling campus of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences at Bhimanakuppe on Mysuru Road. He also stated that decisions were being made regarding the special integration of AI across all colleges.

“In recent times, a significant number of complaints regarding mental health have been coming in. In this regard, NIMHANS-model hospitals were being established in Mysuru and Kalaburagi, which will help provide treatment to those with mental health issues,” the ACS said.

JSS Institution Vice-Chancellor Dr. Basavanagoudappa, Dayananda Sagar University Dean Dr. Pushpa Sarkar, AI experts and officials were present at the worskhop.
