Three innovative minds to showcase how ‘grassroots is green’ — on the other side of the globe…

Bengaluru: Million Mutinies, a city-based initiative to enable innovators and startups, in collaboration with Rotary Bengaluru Disha, recently announced that three Grassroots Innovators from Andhra Pradhesh will represent India at the International Intellectual Property, Invention, Innovation and Technology Exposition (IPITEx) 2026, to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 5 to 9 January 2026.

IPITEx is one of the world’s leading platforms for inventors and innovators, attracting global investors, policymakers, industry leaders, and innovation ecosystems from across continents.

The participation of Indian grassroots innovators at this global forum marks a significant milestone in showcasing India’s bottom-up innovation strength rooted in rural wisdom, sustainability and frugal engineering.

The participation of the Grassroots Innovators (GRIs) at IPITEx 2026 aims to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Exposure to a global audience
  • Learning from global innovation and technology trends
  • Networking and international collaboration
  • Validation of grassroots innovations on a global stage
  • Enhanced visibility and access to global markets
  • Opportunities for scaling and replication across geographies

The initiative, a release says, seeks to showcase the strength of India’s grassroots innovation ecosystem and the ingenuity of rural innovators to the world.

Sanjay Koppikar from Million Mutinies is quoted as saying: “We believe transformative innovation does not only emerge from laboratories and corporations, but from the lived realities of communities. Taking grassroots innovators to IPITEx 2026 is not just about participation — it is about positioning India’s grassroots ingenuity as a global force for inclusive and sustainable innovation.”

This initiative underscores a shared commitment by Million Mutinies, Bengaluru, Rotary Bengaluru Disha, and Palle Srujana to build bridges between grassroots innovation and global opportunity, ensuring that rural inventors receive the recognition, validation and support they deserve — on a par with those from formal systems.

The delegation’s participation in the event is expected to open doors for cross-border collaborations, technology transfer, and market access.
