Minister meets German delegation to boost ties in renewable energy sector

Bengaluru: M.B. Patil, Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, recently met a German delegation led by Franziska Giffey, Senator for Economic Affairs, Energy and Public Enterprises from the State of Berlin to strengthen ties between Karnataka and Germany and position the state as a leader in the renewable energy space.

Germany is the ninth-largest investor in India as of 2023, with FDI amounting to $547 million.

Electrical products, automobiles and auto components, textiles and garments, chemicals and pharmaceuticals are some key products exported to Germany from India.

Top German companies such as Mercedes-Benz, Robert Bosch, Continental AG, BASF, and Siemens have strong business operations in Karnataka.

The Minister had visited Germany in December 2024 as part of a broader Europe and UK roadshow, representing the Government of Karnataka, where strategic meetings with key companies like GEA, Krones, Bosch, INDEX-Werke, Hensoldt, Alanod, and MHP (Porsche) were held, with Krones signing a MoU of Rs 315 crore to establish a facility for manufacturing machinery for bottling in Karnataka.
