Hyderabad: The Government of India has announced the release of a commemorative ₹108 silver coin to mark the 108th birth anniversary of Sri Satya Pramoda Teertha Swamiji, the 41st pontiff of the Shri Uttaradi Math.
The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on August 18, 2025, confirming the details of the coin. This is the first time in the history of the Republic of India that a coin with the unique denomination of ₹108 is being introduced.
Sri Satya Pramoda Teertha Swamiji, revered for his devotion, scholarship and leadership, played a pivotal role in preserving and propagating the Dvaita Vedanta philosophy of Shri Madhvacharya.
His simple, yet disciplined life continues to inspire generations of devotees and spiritual seekers.

Metal: Pure Silver (99.9%)
Weight: 40 grams
Diameter: 44 mm
Edge: 200 serrations
Obverse: The coin will feature the Lion Capitol of the Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend “सत्यमेव जयते” inscribed below.
The periphery will carry the word “भारत” in Devanagari script on the left and “INDIA” in English on the right.
Below the Lion Capitol, the Rupee symbol ‘₹’ and the denomination 108 in international numerals will be inscribed.
Reverse: The reverse will depict the portrait of Sri Satya Pramoda Teertha Swamiji. The inscription “श्री सत्यप्रमोद तीर्थ स्वामी जी की 108वीं जयंती” will appear in Devanagari script along the upper periphery, while “108th Birth Anniversary of Sri Satya Pramoda Tirtha Swamiji” will appear along the lower periphery.
Below the image, the words “Shri Uttaradi Matha” in English and the year 2025 in international numerals will be engraved.
This commemorative issue not only honours the 41st pontiff of Shri Uttaradi Math but also highlights India’s rich spiritual heritage and its tradition of marking historic milestones through numismatic art.
