IIIT-Bangalore’s 26th convocation marks new milestones with ₹1.5-crore placement, 100th PhD graduate

Bengaluru: The International Institute of Information Technology-Bangalore (IIIT-B) celebrated a series of remarkable milestones at its 26th Annual Convocation on Sunday, with record-breaking placements, the graduation of its 100th PhD scholar, and its alumni network crossing the 5,000 mark.

Several students graduated across Integrated M.Tech. (B.Tech. + M.Tech.), M.Tech., M.S. and PhD programmes, reflecting the institute’s continued emphasis on academic excellence, innovation, and research.

One of the highlights of this year’s convocation was a record international placement package of ₹1.5 crore secured by an Integrated M.Tech. student.  

Adding to the institute’s impressive placement performance, two other students received offers worth ₹1.3 crore each, underscoring the strong industry demand for IIIT-B graduates and the institute’s reputation for producing globally competitive technology professionals.

In a landmark achievement, IIIT-B also celebrated the graduation of its 100th PhD scholar, marking a significant chapter in its research journey. The milestone graduate is a neurosurgeon from the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), highlighting the institute’s growing contribution to interdisciplinary research at the intersection of healthcare and advanced technology.

Another significant milestone was the expansion of IIIT-B’s global community, with the institute’s alumni strength surpassing 5,000 graduates. Over the years, IIIT-B alumni have established themselves as entrepreneurs, researchers, academicians, and technology leaders across India and around the world.

The convocation celebrated not only academic accomplishments but also the institute’s growing impact on research, innovation, and the technology ecosystem. As the graduating students prepare to embark on new professional and research journeys, IIIT-B continues to strengthen its position as one of India’s leading institutions for information technology education and cutting-edge research.

The event was attended by distinguished academicians, industry leaders, faculty members, graduating students, and their families, making it a memorable occasion that celebrated achievement, perseverance, and the promise of future innovation.
