CBSE facilitates visit of school principals to UPES for better exposure to emerging trends

Dehradun: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) recently hosted a two-day exposure visit at UPES for school principals from CBSE-affiliated schools.

The initiative provided a dynamic platform for educational leaders to enhance their understanding of future skills and emerging trends in vocational and skill-based education.

Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasises integration of vocational education into mainstream schooling, this programme was aimed to empower school principals with insights into innovative learning methodologies and industry trends.

The initiative also focused on bridging the gap between school and higher education, promoting collaborations that equip students with skills relevant to an evolving global landscape.

The exposure visit covered key areas such as digital transformation in education, emerging career pathways, industry-integrated curricula, and experiential learning approaches.

Facilitated by experienced faculty from UPES, the session provided hands-on exposure to best practices in higher education, encouraging school leaders to integrate these insights into their institutions and empower educators.

Speaking on the significance of this event, Dr. Ram Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of UPES, said, “At UPES, we recognise that the future of education lies in seamlessly integrating academic learning with industry-driven skills. India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 highlights the importance of skill-based education from an early stage and with over 50 percent of India’s population under the age of 25, the need to equip students with practical, future-ready skills has never been more urgent. By engaging with school leaders through this CBSE event, we aim to bridge the gap between secondary and higher education, ensuring that students are better prepared for emerging career landscapes in diverse industries.”

The CBSE spokesperson added, “We are committed to empowering school leaders with the knowledge and tools needed to drive educational excellence. This exposure visit to UPES offered our principals a valuable opportunity to witness innovative educational practices and industry-integrated learning models first-hand. By creating stronger linkages between schools and higher education institutions, we aim to equip our students with future-ready skills and a mindset of lifelong learning.”

UPES is renowned for its industry-aligned programmes and holistic approach to education, and continues to drive impactful collaborations that strengthen India’s education landscape.

The programme concluded with an accreditation ceremony, acknowledging the commitment of all participating school principals in shaping the future of education.
