When Seniors are not just first, but fast too!

Bengaluru: Recently, Manasum Senior Living Homes, in association with Vayah Vikas, concluded its exclusive sponsorship of the Senior Citizens’ Run at the TCS World 10K 2025, at the Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw Parade Ground, Bengaluru.

The three-kilometre non-timed walk/run welcomed over 1,700 senior citizens in a vibrant display of energy, community spirit, and enthusiasm for active ageing.

The event was flagged off by Sandeep Somesh, a former Indian hockey star and co-founder of YesForHockey!.

The atmosphere was filled with encouragement, laughter, and a shared sense of purpose among seniors from all walks of life.

As part of its engagement, Manasum hosted a lively lucky draw, which added to the excitement of the day.

The bumper prize was a Lenovo tablet, while there were other prizes such as smart watches and complimentary trial stays at Manasum Banyan, providing them with an opportunity to experience the enriching lifestyle of a senior living community.

Reflecting on the success of the collaboration, Anantharam Varayur, founder of Manasum Senior Living Homes, and a marathon runner himself said, “At Manasum, we believe this is about much more than just participating in something. It is a chance to celebrate all that life after 60 can offer – energy, joy, and meaningful connections. We are so excited to support this wonderful community of seniors who are embracing life with such enthusiasm. Seeing the energy and positivity reminded us why we are passionate about creating vibrant, active living spaces for seniors.”

A spokesperson from Vayah Vikas added, “Manasum’s support brought an essential human touch to the Senior Citizens’ Run. Their thoughtful involvement, from hosting a pre-event gathering to creating memorable rewards, made this experience special for every participant. This kind of community-focused sponsorship elevates our events and leaves a lasting impact.”

Sharing their excitement, the lucky draw winner said, “I have never won anything before and certainly not at my age! It feels wonderful to be part of something so positive. Manasum has made this day unforgettable.”

Manasum founders Anantharam Varayur, Sumathy and Kushal Ramesh were also walking/running along with the seniors, encouraging them throughout the course.

All participants received T-shirts sponsored by Manasum and medals from the organizers.

Vayah Vikas also recognized the oldest participants in both the men’s and women’s categories, with the oldest male participant being 94 years old.

There were also awards for the largest community and the highest participation from a single group or association, such as laughter clubs, resident welfare associations, yoga clubs, and more.
