Bengaluru: Brakes India Private Limited and Wheels India Limited on Thursday announced a strategic joint venture aimed at accelerating growth in advanced air systems for the commercial vehicle segment.

The proposed venture will be a 50:50 partnership between Bosch and TSF Group companies, represented by Brakes India and Wheels India. The companies plan to commence operations by the end of 2026, subject to receiving necessary regulatory approvals.

The joint venture will focus on engineering, manufacturing and sales of electronically controlled and software-driven modules for air compression, air processing, air suspension and air parking brake systems. The new entity will have its registered office in Chennai, while the global supply chain, including India operations, will be managed jointly by Bosch, Brakes India and Wheels India.

Speaking on the announcement, Guruprasad Mudlapur, President of the Bosch Group in India and Managing Director of Bosch Limited, said the partnership marks an important step in strengthening Bosch’s leadership in the commercial vehicle sector.

He said the collaboration would combine strong engineering and manufacturing expertise to develop intelligent and advanced air system modules that would help customers build next-generation commercial vehicles for global markets.

Sandeep Nelamangala, Joint Managing Director of Bosch Limited and President of Bosch Mobility India, said the commercial vehicle industry was rapidly transitioning from mechanical hardware to software-driven architecture.

He noted that the partnership would further strengthen Bosch’s commercial vehicle motion management portfolio and support the future of software-driven mobility.

According to the companies, the venture is expected to address the growing demand for improved efficiency, safety and automation in commercial vehicles, especially with the increasing adoption of electronically controlled systems.

Sriram Viji, Managing Director of Brakes India, said the collaboration would help create a more integrated and system-level approach for OEMs in the commercial vehicle industry. He added that the partnership would enable the company to offer advanced air braking system components designed for e-enabled future mobility.

Srivats Ram, Chairman and Managing Director of Wheels India, said the company has been a pioneer in air suspension systems for buses in India for more than three decades. He said the collaboration with Bosch would help advance electronic air suspension systems for customers across global markets.

The boards of Bosch Group, Bosch Limited, Brakes India Private Limited and Wheels India Limited have already approved the transaction. The companies believe the partnership will play a key role in supporting the transformation of the commercial vehicle industry towards intelligent, connected and software-driven mobility solutions.
