The Standard launches GCC in Bengaluru, accelerating digital transformation, innovation

Bengaluru: The Standard has taken a significant step in its global growth journey with the inauguration of its new Global Capability Centre (GCC) at Embassy Tech Village in Bengaluru. The launch marks the next phase of expansion for The Standard India, following its entry into the country in November 2025.

The state-of-the-art facility was inaugurated by Priyank Kharge, Minister for Electronics, IT and Biotechnology, Government of Karnataka. Designed as a strategic hub, the centre will drive innovation across AI engineering, cloud platform development, data and analytics, digital transformation, and insurance operations — aligned closely with the company’s global technology roadmap.

This new office represents more than just a physical expansion. It signals The Standard’s long-term commitment to building deep in-house technology capabilities.

The Bengaluru GCC will serve as a cornerstone for scaling software engineering, enterprise platforms, and total experience initiatives, reinforcing the company’s transition toward a more agile, innovation-led operating model.

“Our operations in India play an increasingly important role in our technology transformation,” said Greg Chandler. “The launch of The Standard India strengthens our ability to accelerate digital transformation, scale technology capabilities, and deliver innovative solutions faster to our customers. This centre reflects our confidence in India as a strategic partner in shaping the future of our business.”

Since establishing its presence in India, The Standard India has rapidly built a strong leadership team spanning finance, human resources, talent acquisition, IT, administration, and communications — laying the foundation for sustained growth.

Highlighting the centre’s strategic importance, Mohua Sengupta noted, “The Standard India operates as an integrated capability hub supporting engineering, data, AI, and insurance operations. Our model combines enterprise scale with startup agility, enabling teams to build greenfield capabilities while collaborating closely with global stakeholders.”

A key mandate of the GCC will be to transition select technology functions from vendor-led delivery to in-house engineering teams. This shift is expected to enhance agility, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen long-term innovation capabilities across the organization.

The move also reflects a broader industry trend, with India emerging as a global powerhouse for capability centres in financial services. With its robust innovation ecosystem, deep engineering talent, and world-class institutions, Bengaluru continues to attract multinational investments in advanced technology and digital transformation.

As The Standard deepens its presence in India, the new Bengaluru GCC is set to play a pivotal role in driving the company’s global growth, innovation, and transformation agenda in the years ahead.
