Bengaluru: Karnataka has once again emerged as a driving force in India’s clean energy movement, setting the tone for the upcoming RenewX 2026, South India’s largest renewable energy sourcing expo.
In the run-up to its landmark 10th edition, Informa Markets India hosted a high-impact industry roundtable in Bengaluru, bringing together leading voices from across the renewable energy ecosystem.
The roundtable served as a strategic platform to discuss the sector’s growth trajectory, emerging technologies, and policy-driven opportunities, reinforcing Karnataka’s leadership in India’s renewable energy transformation.
A milestone edition for a growing sector
Scheduled to be held from April 27–29, 2026, at the Chennai Trade Centre, RenewX 2026 is expected to attract over 8,000 visitors and feature more than 200 leading brands. The expo will spotlight critical segments including solar innovation and manufacturing, energy storage, grid management, and the rapidly expanding EV charging ecosystem.
India’s renewable energy journey has seen remarkable progress over the past decade. The country currently ranks among the top global players — 4th in overall renewable energy capacity, 4th in wind power, and 3rd in solar power.
Notably, India’s installed solar capacity has surged over 50-fold, from 2.82 GW in 2014 to more than 143 GW in 2026, with a bold national target of achieving 500 GW by 2030.
Karnataka leads from the front
With over 20 GW of installed renewable energy capacity, Karnataka continues to be a frontrunner in the country’s clean energy transition. Backed by the progressive Karnataka Renewable Energy Policy 2022–2027, the state is fostering innovation across next-generation technologies such as offshore wind, green hydrogen, bio-energy, and hybrid energy systems.
The state is also exploring cutting-edge concepts like blockchain-enabled peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading, which promises to revolutionise rooftop solar distribution and monetisation.
This forward-looking approach has positioned Karnataka as a preferred destination for investments, R&D, and industrial expansion in the renewable sector.
The Bengaluru roundtable witnessed participation from key industry experts and thought leaders, including Bhupendra Singh Rawat, Dr. Anand M Shivapuji of the Indian Institute of Science, Raghavendra Asuti, and Saptak Ghosh from CSTEP, Surendra Kumar K R, Venkata Krishnan, and Rajneesh Khattar.
Their discussions underscored the importance of collaboration between policymakers, industry stakeholders, and technology innovators in accelerating the clean energy transition.
Speaking on the significance of the event, Rajneesh Khattar highlighted Karnataka’s pivotal role in India’s renewable energy landscape, noting that the state contributes nearly 10 percent of the country’s total installed renewable capacity.
He emphasised that RenewX 2026 will act as a catalyst for innovation, partnerships, and business growth by bringing together key stakeholders under one roof.
The platform is expected to drive technology adoption and support India’s ambitious clean energy goals.
As India intensifies its push towards a sustainable and low-carbon future, platforms like RenewX are playing a crucial role in bridging gaps between innovation, policy, and market adoption.
With Karnataka leading the charge and South India emerging as a renewable energy hub, RenewX 2026 is poised to be a defining moment in the country’s green energy journey.
