BOSCON 2026, held recently, was all about future-ready orthopaedic care in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: The city has emerged as a hub of cutting-edge orthopaedic innovation with BOSCON 2026 bringing together leading surgeons, academicians, and young clinicians for a dynamic exchange of knowledge and ideas.

The two-day conference, inaugurated on April 4, reinforced Bengaluru’s stature in advancing evidence-based healthcare.

Organised by the Bangalore Orthopaedic Society in association with HOSMAT Hospitals, the conference was held at The Koramangala Club, drawing participation from across Karnataka and neighbouring regions.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Dr. Shantharam Shetty, Pro Chancellor of NITTE University and former President of the Indian Orthopaedic Association, lending prestige to the event.

Centred on the theme “Keeping PACE in Orthopaedics: Evolving with Evidence,” BOSCON 2026 highlighted the importance of Practical Academic Case-based Education (PACE), encouraging clinicians to integrate real-world experience with scientific validation.

The conference underscored a crucial shift in orthopaedic care —moving beyond innovation for its own sake towards responsible, patient-centric application.

The conference featured an intensive academic programme, including:

Subspecialty-focused scientific sessions, complex case-based surgical discussions, evidence-driven panel debates, orations honouring pioneers in orthopaedics, dedicated academic platforms for postgraduate students and emerging surgeons.

Key discussions revolved around the growing integration of robotics, artificial intelligence, biologics, and minimally invasive surgical techniques — technologies that are redefining precision and outcomes in orthopaedic practice.

Speaking at the conference, Dr. Subodh Shetty, President of BOS, emphasized the delicate balance between innovation and ethics.

He noted that while orthopaedics was witnessing rapid technological advancements, the real challenge lay in adopting these innovations responsibly, guided by strong clinical evidence and patient outcomes.

Echoing this sentiment, Dr. Shantharam Shetty stressed that orthopaedics must evolve as both an art and a science, cautioning against reducing it to a commercially driven discipline.

Beyond academic discourse, BOSCON 2026 served as a vital platform to reaffirm the commitment of clinicians and institutions towards ethical, evidence-based and patient-focused healthcare.
