Soon, all level crossings in Karnataka to be replaced by bridges, says Railways MoS

In a boost to regional rail and road infrastructure, V. Somanna, Minister of State for Railways, recently laid the foundation stone for a Road Over Bridge (ROB) in lieu of Level Crossing No. 35 at Hagaribommanahalli, between Gunda Road–Kotturu section.

The project will be executed at an estimated cost of ₹38.73 crore and fully funded by the Indian Railways.

Addressing the public, Somanna stated that Karnataka was witnessing a sustained phase of railway infrastructure development and emphasized that in the coming days, ROBs and Road Under Bridges (RUBs) would systematically replace level crossings across the state to enhance safety and connectivity.

He further informed that ₹12,900 crore had been allocated for various railway projects in the Kalyana Karnataka region. Special priority had been accorded to the construction of railway bridges in Ballari district, with full financial support from the Central Government, he added.

The event saw participation from E. Tukaram, Member of Parliament, Ballari, K. Nemaraj Naik, MLA, Hagaribommanahalli and Ajay Sharma, CAO (Construction), among other officials.
