Shortly, new weekly express train service between Chikkamagaluru and Tirupati

Mysuru: The Railway Board has approved the introduction of a new weekly express train service between Tirupati and Chikkamagaluru, aimed at enhancing rail connectivity between Andhra Pradesh and the Malnad region of Karnataka.

To mark the commencement of the service, South Central Railway will operate an Inaugural Special Express Train (one-way).

Train No. 07424 Chikkamagaluru–Tirupati Inaugural Special Express will run on 11 July 2025 (Friday).

The train will depart from Chikkamagaluru at 12:00 pm and will reach Tirupati at 02:30 am the next day.

The train will consist of 18 LHB coaches.

 Regular services

  1. Train No. 17423 Tirupati–Chikkamagaluru Weekly Express will commence its regular service from 17 July 2025 (Thursday).
  2. Train No. 17424 Chikkamagaluru–Tirupati Weekly Express will commence its regular service from 18 July 2025 (Friday).

Schedule and stoppages

Train No. 17423 Tirupati – Chikkamagaluru Weekly Express will depart from Tirupati at 9 pm every Thursday and arrive at Chikkamagaluru at 10:30 am the following day (Friday).

En route, the train will arrive/depart at Pakala at 21:28/21:30 hrs, Chittoor at 21:58/22:00 hrs, Katpadi at 23:08/23:10 hrs, Jolarpettai at 00:28/00:30 hrs (Friday), Kuppam at 01:10/01:12 hrs, Bangarapet at 01:39/01:41 hrs, Whitefield at 02:10/02:12 hrs, Krishnarajapuram at 02:23/02:25 hrs, Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal Bengaluru at 03:05/03:15 hrs, Chikbanavar at 03:50/03:52 hrs, Tumakuru at 04:43/04:45 hrs, Tiptur at 05:58/06:00 hrs, Arsikere at 07:30/07:50 hrs, Devanur at 08:10/08:12 hrs, Kadur at 08:26/08:28 hrs, Birur at 08:50/09:10 hrs, Bisalehalli at 09:26/09:27 hrs, and Sakharayapatna at 09:39/09:40 hrs.

Train No. 17424 Chikkamagaluru–Tirupati Weekly Express will depart from Chikkamagaluru at 17:30 hrs every Friday and reach Tirupati at 07:40 hrs the next day (Saturday).

En route, it will halt at Sakharayapatna at 18:04/18:05 hrs, Bisalehalli at 18:17/18:18 hrs, Kadur at 18:28/18:30 hrs, Birur at 18:45/19:05 hrs, Devanur at 19:25/19:27 hrs, Arsikere at 19:50/20:10 hrs, Tiptur at 20:30/20:32 hrs, Tumakuru at 21:18/21:20 hrs, Chikbanavar at 22:00/22:02 hrs, SMVT Bengaluru at 00:15/00:30 hrs (Saturday), Krishnarajapuram at 00:40/00:42 hrs, Whitefield at 00:51/00:53 hrs, Bangarapet at 01:20/01:25 hrs, Kuppam at 01:55/01:57 hrs, Jolarpettai at 03:25/03:30 hrs, Katpadi at 05:00/05:10 hrs, Chittoor at 05:43/05:45 hrs, and Pakala at 06:13/06:15 hrs.

Coach composition

The trains will consist of 18 LHB coaches including 2 AC Two Tier, 4 AC Three Tier, six Sleeper Class, four General Second Class, one Second Class-cum-Luggage and Brake Van with a compartment for Divyangjan (differently-abled persons), and 1 Luggage/Generator/Brake van coach, an official press release has said.
