MoS for Railways inspects work and facilities in Bidadi, Ramanagara

Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna recently conducted an inspection of Ramanagara Railway Station, which is being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS).

During the inspection, he stated that the Bengaluru–Ramanagara region was witnessing rapid growth and in view of future requirements, railway infrastructure was being upgraded accordingly.

The modernization of the Ramanagara station is being undertaken at an estimated cost of ₹20.96 crore. The development works include improvement of the circulating area, construction of a new footbridge, provision of new platform shelters and waiting halls, additional two-wheeler and four-wheeler parking facilities, installation of three lifts and one escalator, and construction of a new toilet block.

These initiatives aim to provide passengers with modern, friendly amenities.

Somanna stated that Bengaluru South had immense development potential and called upon both the State and Central governments to work in close coordination for the overall development of the region.

He highlighted that MEMU train services operating in the region were greatly benefiting the public. He further said that the entire cost of all Road Under Bridges (RUBs) and Road Over Bridges (ROBs) across the country would be borne by the Central government.

The Minister also noted that nearly 98 percent of railway tracks had been electrified across India and that railway infrastructure development was progressing at a fast pace nationwide, including in Karnataka.

Member of Parliament (Bengaluru Rural) Dr. C.N. Manjunath and Ramanagara MLA Iqbal Hussain were present during the inspection.

At the station, the Minister interacted with members of the public and received representations to redress their grievances.

Earlier in the day, the Minister inspected Bidadi Railway Station, where he reviewed work on the ongoing footbridge extension and platform extension.

He also visited the Toyota manufacturing unit at Bidadi and reviewed the transportation of automobiles through railways.
