Karnataka Industries Minister meets Danish firms in MoU-to-ground-investment-conversion effort

Bengaluru: In a major push to attract Danish investments into Karnataka, M.B. Patil, Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, Government of Karnataka, held a series of high-level meetings with leading Danish companies and business chambers such as Carlsberg, KK Wind Solutions, Novonesis, Novo Nordisk, the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI), and the Indian Danish Chamber of Commerce (IDCC) recently.

Notably, Carlsberg has started investing Rs 350 crore on ground in Karnataka as part of an MoU signed during the Invest Karnataka 2025.

Meeting with Carlsberg

Patil met Jacob Aarup-Andersen, CEO of Carlsberg Group, to review the progress of the company’s ongoing investment in Karnataka.

Carlsberg presented an overview of their global operations, existing footprint in Karnataka, and reaffirmed their long-term commitment to the Indian market, terming India as critical growth geography. The Minister assured the company of the government’s full support to enhance the ease of doing business in the state.

Meeting with KK Wind Solutions

In an interaction with KK Wind Solutions, Patil was briefed about the company’s consolidation of manufacturing operations from Yeshwanthpur and Chennai to a central location in Dabaspet, Karnataka.

Currently producing control platforms and converters, the company expressed satisfaction with the support extended by the Karnataka government. The Minister encouraged KK Wind Solutions to broaden its product portfolio in the state, especially in electronics and platform systems, and discussed strategies to deepen supply chain localization in and around Bengaluru.

Meeting with Novonesis

Minister Patil also held talks with Novonesis, which highlighted India — and Karnataka in particular — as a key strategic market amidst evolving global dynamics. Novonesis showed keen interest in the upcoming Knowledge Wellbeing and Innovation (KWIN) City and praised its existing R&D footprint in Whitefield, Bengaluru, which employs over 600 personnel.

The Minister invited the company to expand its manufacturing presence in the state and leverage Karnataka’s biotech and innovation ecosystem.

Meeting with Novo Nordisk

At a meeting with global pharmaceutical leader Novo Nordisk, Patil urged the company to explore setting up manufacturing operations in Karnataka. With Bengaluru already serving as the company’s Indian headquarters and Novo Nordisk commanding 58 percent of India’s insulin market, the Minister emphasized Karnataka’s strength in pharma and biotech as an ideal platform for expansion.

Meetings with DI and IDCC

Minister Patil also met with the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI) and the Indian Danish Chamber of Commerce (IDCC). Discussions focused on fostering stronger bilateral ties, promoting Karnataka’s investor-friendly policies, and organizing a dedicated business showcase in Bengaluru for Danish companies.

Patil also extended an invitation to IDCC to establish an office in Bengaluru to further strengthen Indo-Danish trade relations. DI and IDCC agreed to actively promote Karnataka among their member networks and explore sectoral partnerships across manufacturing, innovation, and sustainability.

These strategic meetings are part of the Government of Karnataka’s global outreach mission to convert investment commitments made during the Invest Karnataka 2025, Global Investors Meet into grounded projects and to identify new opportunities in high-growth sectors such as renewable energy, biotechnology, advanced manufacturing, and FMCG.
