Karnataka in Sweden: Industries M.B. Patil on mission to convert MoUs into real-time investments

Gothenburg: In a strategic push to position Karnataka as a global hub for clean mobility and electric vehicle innovation, Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, M.B. Patil, led a state delegation at the prestigious EVS38 Summit in Gothenburg, Sweden recently.

The visit marks the beginning of a 10-day international roadshow aimed at attracting global investments into Karnataka and accelerating the conversion of MoUs signed during Invest Karnataka 2025 (GIM) into on-ground projects.

Following the Sweden roadshow, Patil will continue the roadshow in Denmark, engaging with key stakeholders to further advance Karnataka’s industrial growth agenda.

The EVS38 Summit is a premier global event focused on electric mobility and cutting-edge vehicle technologies. Addressing a gathering of international stakeholders, Patil highlighted Karnataka’s robust EV policy, advanced manufacturing capabilities, and thriving startup ecosystem.

He extended a formal invitation to global industry leaders to invest in Karnataka’s rapidly growing EV ecosystem, underscoring the state’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and green infrastructure.

A presentation was made at the summit, showcasing Karnataka as a leading global destination for electric vehicle R&D, innovation, and manufacturing.

Patil also held a high-level strategic meeting with Martin Lundstedt, President and CEO of Volvo Group in which he acknowledged Volvo’s ongoing investment in Karnataka as part of the MoU signed during Invest Karnataka 2025 Global Investors Meet (GIM 2025), and encouraged deeper engagement in the state’s expanding EV and auto landscape.

The government also urged Volvo Cars to consider scaling up its investment footprint in Karnataka. In response, Volvo reaffirmed its commitment, identifying Karnataka as one of its four key global manufacturing hubs, and expressed gratitude for the state’s continuous support.

Discussions also covered future expansion plans and potential collaboration areas.

Accompanying the Minister during the Sweden roadshow were Dr. Selvakumar S, Principal Secretary, Commerce and Industries, and Gunjan Krishna, Commissioner for Industrial Development.

The Sweden leg of the global investment roadshow is part of Karnataka’s broader strategy to strengthen international partnerships and attract next-generation investments in line with its clean mobility and sustainable industrial vision.
