Raichur: In a significant step toward youth empowerment and employment generation, the United Nations-accredited 1M1B (One Million for One Billion), in collaboration with the NSB Foundation — a social initiative dedicated to creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural youth — hosted Karnataka’s first-ever 1M1B Job Mela on Saturday in Raichur.
The 1M1B Job Mela was attended by around 1,800 youth from Raichur and nearby regions, with over 600 candidates getting selected across various roles.
The three-day event brought together more than 20 reputed 1M1B placement partner companies and hundreds of aspiring candidates from Raichur district, Devadurga, Lingsugur, Manvi, and other towns across South India.
The Job Mela combined both a work-readiness workshop and a placement drive, offering candidates valuable exposure and preparation. It began with a pre-placement and screening workshop on August 21 and 22, covering resume building, digital etiquette, professional readiness, AI readiness, and industry certifications.
On August 23, the main Job Mela provided candidates with a direct platform to engage with recruiters from leading industries, including manufacturing, IT/ITES, BFSI, retail, education, telecom and ed-tech.
More than 20 companies — including Tech Mahindra, Apollo Pharmacy, Hetero, Ather Energy, Flipkart, Titan Engineering and Automation Ltd., Quess Corp, SPNN, Workex, Grameen Bank, and local pharma and agri-sector firms —participated in the recruitment drive, offering jobs across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Kerala and Maharashtra.
The 1M1B Job Mela was inaugurated at Rangamandir by Ravi Boseraju, a prominent political leader, and attended by industry leaders and members of the 1M1B team.
Youth from cities such as Raichur, Devadurga, Manvi, Lingsugur, and nearby areas participated.
The primary objective of the Job Mela was to provide employment opportunities to the youth of Karnataka, particularly from Raichur district and nearby regions.
In addition to interviews and recruitment sessions, attendees also participated in interactive career guidance and skill development sessions, gaining valuable insights into corporate work culture and interview preparation.
Several candidates were shortlisted during the event and will now proceed to the next rounds of recruitment.
Speaking about the initiative, Ravi Boseraju said the 1M1B Job Mela was closely aligned with the Chief Minister’s vision of creating strong employment prospects for youth within the state.
“Raichur has the potential to be self-sustaining. We are already on top in terms of paddy and cotton production, and are Asia’s second-largest textile market is here. With resources like these, we must ensure our youth don’t have to migrate elsewhere for jobs. I am happy to share that we are in active discussions with 1M1B to soon open a dedicated skilling centre in Raichur in collaboration with NSB Foundation. This will train our youth in competitive exams, upskilling, professional, and sustainable skills — so that Raichur’s young talent can shine across industries,” he added.
Manav Subodh, Founder of 1M1B, stated thus: “We are excited to witness participation from over 20 leading corporate organizations at the 1M1B Job Mela in Raichur. This platform has become a vital bridge for young job seekers, enabling direct engagement with top recruiters. Beyond job placement, 1M1B equips youth with essential soft skills and professional training, enhancing their readiness for meaningful employment. Over the last few years, over 10,000 youth from Tier 2–3 cities and villages of India have been given access to jobs and opportunities by 1M1B. With the continued support of local authorities, our impact is growing every day — and we remain committed to creating even more opportunities for the youth of Karnataka.”
The 1M1B Job Mela witnessed participation from job seekers with qualifications ranging from 10th and 12th pass to ITI, diploma holders and graduates.
