Flipkart CEO turns wishmaster for a day, celebrates ties with farmer partners

BENGALURU: In a powerful gesture reinforcing Flipkart’s commitment to inclusive growth, Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO of the Flipkart Group, stepped into the shoes of a Flipkart Wishmaster for a day — delivering smiles and groceries to customers, while also connecting with the people who help power the e-commerce giant’s fresh produce supply chain: India’s farmers.

Krishnamurthy, along with Kabeer Biswas, Vice-President of Flipkart Minutes, visited Malur in Karnataka to meet and engage with farmers who are part of Flipkart’s direct sourcing network.

These farmers ensure that fresh vegetables and greens make their way to Flipkart’s Minutes Fulfillment Stores each morning, helping the platform guarantee quality, freshness, and convenience to its urban customers.

Among those he met was Krishnappa, a dedicated farmer with over 17 years of experience growing capsicum, cucumber, and chillies on his 4-acre farm. He spoke of how the partnership with Flipkart has not only improved price realization but also reduced market uncertainties.

Also present was Padma, a woman farmer who has nurtured her three-acre land for over a decade, cultivating leafy greens such as coriander, fenugreek (methi), and spinach (palak).

“I feel proud knowing my greens reach homes directly through Flipkart. It saves me the effort of going to the mandi every day,” she said.

These farmer interactions reflect Flipkart’s growing push towards building a resilient farm-to-fulfillment supply chain, one that empowers smallholder farmers through predictable demand and fair pricing, while also delivering freshness at scale to customers.

Later in the day, the Flipkart CEO donned the Wishmaster uniform and hand-delivered packages to surprised customers. “This was a humbling experience. It reinforces how much effort and collaboration goes into every order — from the soil to the doorstep,” said Krishnamurthy.

The initiative highlights Flipkart’s holistic vision of inclusive commerce —where technology, supply chain innovation, and partnerships converge to create impact at the grassroots.

As Flipkart continues to scale its hyperlocal and quick commerce operations, these direct connections with farmer communities are expected to grow, further enhancing livelihoods while ensuring farm-fresh deliveries at the click of a button.
