BMRCL introduces self-service ticket machines to save commuter time

Bengaluru: As part of efforts to enhance commuter convenience and promote digital solutions, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has installed 10 self-service ticket machines at Baiyappanahalli Metro Station, an official release has said.

These machines are equipped with advanced features designed to facilitate quick and contactless issue of QR-based tickets, gradually replacing the traditional single journey tokens.

With a simple two-step process, passengers can obtain a ticket in less than 30 seconds. Follows these steps:

  1. Select Your Destination

Passengers can select their destination by either choosing from an intuitive drop-down menu or by using the integrated route map. They will then have to confirm the number of passengers and review the fare displayed on the screen.

  1. Make Payment

Payment is seamless as passengers can use any UPI-based mobile application. Upon successful payment, a Paper QR Ticket is instantly generated.

Commuters can then use the QR ticket at both entry and exit fare gates. Once the journey is completed, passengers are encouraged to dispose of the paper ticket in the designated waste bins at the station, promoting cleanliness and eco-friendly practices, the release further states.

BMRCL is focussing on leveraging technology to improve the travel experience for Bengalureans. The introduction of self-service ticket machines is a step in that direction, the release signed by the BMRCL Public Relations Officer says.
