Bengaluru international airport displays superior ‘Aam strength’, exports 921 tonnes of mangoes this season

Bengaluru: Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru has concluded its most successful mango season yet, exporting 921 tonnes of mangoes to destinations across the globe, an official release has said.

This represents a 12 percent increase over the last season — the equivalent of 31.5 lakh mangoes shipped in FY 2025.

Sourced from the lush mango belts of Karnataka and neighbouring regions, Bengaluru airport helps deliver this golden harvest from local orchards to consumers worldwide.

This season’s success reflects the airport’s growing role as a global hub for perishables, the statement said.

Shipments reached 51 international destinations, a 21 percent increase from last year, with 19 new destinations added to the network.

As many as 24 airlines are currently facilitating mango exports this season. The top five international destinations include Dulles (IAD), Dallas–Fort Worth (DFW), San Francisco (SFO), Chicago (ORD) and Seattle (SEA).

The statement quotes Satyaki Raghunath, Chief Operating Officer of Bangalore International Airport Ltd, as saying: “At KIA, we take great pride in being a trusted link between our farmers and global consumers. The success of this mango season is a testament to the collaborative efforts of our regulatory bodies, airline partners, cargo handlers, trade promotion councils, trade bodies and farming communities.”

The airport continues to strengthen farm-to-fork connections for India’s agricultural exporters, from the orchards of Karnataka and neighbouring states.

These efforts not only enhance the livelihoods of local farmers and agri-businesses but also carry the distinctive flavour and heritage of Indian mangoes to global consumers.
