
Bengaluru: The Visvesvaraya Jala Nigam Limited (VJNL) has won a prestigious national award, ISDA INFRACON National Award-IINA, for the year 2025 for using cutting edge technology in Karnataka’s Yettinahole project.
The award, instituted by the Infrastructure Skill Development Academy (ISDA), was given to VJNL in New Delhi on June 14. This prestigious award recognises extraordinary skill and technology used in infrastructure projects in the country and is given away every year.
VJNL Managing Director Sanna Chittaiah and his team met Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who also handles Irrigation portfolio, along with the award recently.
The award was given for the use of advanced technology in building the 10.47 km-long aqueduct between 199.62 km and 210.09 km stretch of the Yettinahole drinking water project.
The work on the aqueduct project was started by VJNL in 2018 and was completed in 2023.
The aqueduct has the capacity to transport 3,300 cusecs of water and works on gravitational force.
The cost of the aqueduct was Rs 1,203.68 crore including land acquisition cost of Rs 41 crore.
