This portal by Bescom cuts red-tape for farmers under Ganga Kalyana Scheme…

Bengaluru: Energy Minister K.J. George recently said that a new feature had been introduced by BESCOM on the Ganga Kalyana portal, enabling farmers to track the status of their applications online under the Ganga Kalyana scheme.

After unveiling the feature, the Minister stated: “This new option has been introduced to improve transparency, ensure easy access to information, and enhance public convenience under the scheme.”

He further said: “Under the Karnataka government’s flagship irrigation scheme ‘Ganga Kalyana,’ borewells are drilled, pump sets are installed, and free electricity connections are provided to small and marginal farmers belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, minorities, and backward classes communities. Earlier, beneficiaries were unable to know the stage of their application during the process of providing electricity infrastructure after borewell drilling. Now, this information is available directly on the portal. Farmers should make full use of this service.”

The Minister added that the feature was available on the Ganga Kalyana portal homepage under the ‘Track Application Status’ option. By entering the required details, beneficiaries can access their application information.

Key features

Applicants/farmers can now check the status of the electricity infrastructure process without visiting government offices. Beneficiaries need to enter any one of the following: Ganga Kalyana Application ID, registered mobile number, or Aadhaar number.

CAPTCHA verification ensures secure access.

Once the details are submitted, applicants can view their personal information, stage-wise progress of the application, current status (completed/in progress), processing dates, and order number details.

“The portal has been upgraded to prevent delays in providing electricity connections to borewells for Ganga Kalyana beneficiaries. This will eliminate the need for repeated office visits and ensure timely access to application status updates,” said Managing Director of BESCOM. Dr. N. Shivashankara.
