Bengaluru: Responding to the rapidly growing needs of India’s ageing population, Geri Care has inaugurated its 12th facility in the country with a state-of-the-art Skilled Nursing Facility and Senior Citizens Clinic in Sarjapur.

The new centre marks the organisation’s second presence in Bengaluru, reinforcing its commitment to delivering specialised geriatric care in urban India.

With India’s senior population projected to exceed 180 million and expected to double in the coming decades, the demand for structured and expert-led eldercare services is becoming increasingly urgent.

Addressing this gap, Geri Care’s latest facility aims to provide integrated, continuous, and compassionate care tailored specifically for senior citizens.

Extending his support, Dinesh Gundu Rao, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka, highlighted the importance of such initiatives.

He noted that as cities expand and demographics evolve, institutions like Geri Care are crucial in ensuring dignified and accessible healthcare for the elderly within their communities.

Echoing similar sentiments, Harsh Gupta, Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, emphasised that eldercare is not merely a healthcare requirement but a societal responsibility.

He underscored the need for more such facilities in Bengaluru to cater to the specialised needs of ageing citizens.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Lakshmipathy Ramesh, Founder and Managing Director of Geri Care, said the new Sarjapur centre reflected the organisation’s vision of bridging the gap between hospital and home care.

“Our geriatrician-led, continuum-of-care model is designed to support seniors at every stage of ageing, offering clinically anchored and holistic care closer to where families reside,” he said.

Strategically located on Haralur Main Road, the 120-plus bed facility brings together a multidisciplinary approach under one roof. It integrates a Skilled Nursing Facility with a Senior Citizens Clinic that offers geriatric consultations, specialist visits, routine health check-ups, adult vaccinations, and chronic disease management.

The centre also provides a wide range of specialised services including physiotherapy and rehabilitation, assisted living, memory care, post-surgery and post-hospitalisation support, respite care, and palliative care.

Notably, it features Geri Care’s pioneering Dialysis Daycare and Stay-care model — considered the first of its kind in India — designed to offer safe and continuous dialysis support in an elder-friendly environment.

At its core, the Skilled Nursing Facility model ensures continuous medical supervision, structured recovery, and long-term care through a geriatrician-led framework, effectively addressing the critical gap between hospital treatment and home-based care.

Beyond clinical services, the Sarjapur centre is envisioned as a vibrant community hub for senior citizens, hosting awareness programmes, preventive healthcare initiatives, and engagement activities aimed at improving overall quality of life for elders and their families.

With this expansion, Geri Care continues to strengthen its role in shaping the future of senior living in India, bringing dignity, expertise, and compassion to the forefront of eldercare.
