RWAs meet GBA Commissioner, discuss ways to improve governance in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Bengaluru City West Corporation, in association with Bangalore Political Action Committee (B.PAC), recently organised a meeting with Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Jagadeesha G., Commissioner, Bengaluru Central City Corporation (GBA), to strengthen dialogue and collaboration between the civic administration and citizen groups committed to improving urban governance in the city.

The meeting provided a common platform for RWAs and CSOs to share their problems, concerns, suggestions, and practical insights on key civic issues. The interaction sought to foster participatory governance, enhance transparency, and encourage citizen-led solutions for sustainable urban development.

Key highlights from the discussion are as follows:

1. Citizens explained in detail the local ward-level issues faced by them.
2. Civic issues such as solid waste management — blackspot removal, potholes, desilting of drains, walkability and footpath maintenance were discussed.
3. The Commissioner acknowledged these issues and informed them that proactive measures were being taken on priority to redress their grievances.

Addressing mediapersons present on the occasion, the Commissioner said: “The world is looking to Bengaluru as it is now a city with high global relevance. While we face several everyday challenges, it is our responsibility to address them with urgency and commitment. I have always prioritised a citizen-centric administration, placing citizens at the centre of every decision and action. Bengaluru, renowned as Garden City, should reflect a global standard of governance, infrastructure, and public services. We will carefully consider every suggestion made and the concerns raised by citizens and address them through immediate, medium-term, and long-term interventions. Our focus is also on strengthening the financial capacity of the Corporation to ensure sustainable and effective governance.”
