Bengaluru: Karnataka’s technology vision has received significant global endorsement, with 34 eminent scientists from some of the world’s most prestigious research institutions formally writing to Minister for Science and Technology N.S. Boseraju, expressing strong support for the State’s proposed Quantum Materials Innovation Network (Q-MINt).
The endorsement emerged during the recent ‘Frontiers in Quantum Condensed Matter Physics (FQCMP)’ international conference held at ICTS-TIFR.
In a joint communication, the global scientific community lauded Karnataka’s forward-looking proposal to establish Q-MINt as a key pillar of the State’s ambitious Quantum City programme.
The scientists emphasized that advanced quantum materials form the critical foundation for next-generation breakthroughs in computing, communication and sensing technologies.
Welcoming the global backing, Boseraju said the support from 34 leading quantum researchers reaffirms Karnataka’s direction in building a world-class innovation ecosystem.
“Karnataka has always stood at the forefront of technological progress. This endorsement from globally respected scientists demonstrates that we are on the right path. Through Q-MINt, we aim to create a robust ecosystem for advanced research and manufacturing, laying the foundation for a $20 billion quantum economy by 2035 while generating employment opportunities and achieving technological self-reliance,” he stated.
In their recommendations, the scientists advised the State’s Science and Technology and IT/BT Departments to establish a ‘centralised Quantum Materials Foundry’, develop integrated computational and data science infrastructure, and promote multi-institutional collaboration.
They also highlighted the need for phased implementation through confidence-building pilot projects.
The signatories represent globally renowned institutions including IISc, TIFR, MIT, Oxford, Princeton, and Columbia University, underscoring the international credibility and scientific weight behind Karnataka’s Q-MINt initiative.
