In a major step towards improving amenities for Karnataka pilgrims visiting Andhra Pradesh’s key temple towns, top officials from both States convened a high-level meeting at Raj Bhavan in Vijayawada on Thursday.
The talks, chaired by Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, focused on clearing long-pending land hurdles and fast-tracking the construction of Karnataka choultries at Srisailam, Tirupati and Tirumala.
The meeting brought together Karnataka’s Minister for Minor Irrigation, Science and Technology N.S. Boseraju and Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy, who pressed for urgent resolution of bottlenecks that have stalled choultry construction for years.
Andhra Pradesh Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy participated, along with senior bureaucrats including Karnataka Revenue Secretary Rajendra Kataria and Muzrai Commissioner Sharath.
Officials discussed issues related to land allotment, transfer procedures and local clearances, all of which have impeded Karnataka’s efforts to build accommodation facilities for its lakhs of devotees who visit these temple centres annually.
Both States expressed strong willingness to move forward collaboratively.
The meeting ended with a consensus to resolve outstanding issues at the earliest and enable rapid commencement of choultry construction, marking a significant step towards providing safe, affordable and accessible accommodation for Karnataka pilgrims.
