Hassan: Member of the Legislative Assembly H.P. Swaroop Prakash recently thanked Union Ministers H.D. Kumaraswamy and Piyush Goyal for the Central government’s approval for the development of a National Industrial Corridor covering nine major districts of the state — Mandya, Mysore, Chamarajanagar, Kolar, Mangalore, Hubballi-Dharwad, Raichur and Bidar.

Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, H.D. Kumaraswamy, had met Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal on November 13 and submitted a proposal seeking implementation of a National Industrial Corridor Development Program covering nine districts of Karnataka.

The proposal has been approved by the Centre, it is learnt.

Goyal’s response to this was that this initiative would indeed complement the balanced industrial development of Karnataka, and not just favour the capital city, around which all discourse is currently centred.

Welcoming the Central government’s move, Prakash said, “The implementation of the extensive National Industrial Corridor Development Program will provide a transformative rejuvenation to the industrial and transportation sectors, and will benefit not only Hassan but also the neighboring districts. If the proposed project is implemented, the transportation of goods and industrial products in Karnataka will be easy and industrial development will progress at a rapid pace.”
