Union Minister of State for Railways, V. Somanna, recently flagged off the Kacheguda–Yesvantpur–Kacheguda Vande Bharat Express with an additional stoppage at Hindupur Railway Station and also dedicated the upgraded Chakarlapalli Railway Station to the nation.

Speaking on the occasion, he stated that the newly approved stoppage at Hindupur would greatly benefit passengers from the region, and highlighted that the Central government was giving special emphasis to strengthening railway infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh.

The Minister informed that earlier ₹886 crore was sanctioned for undivided Andhra Pradesh, whereas during 2024–25 alone, railway projects worth ₹9,470 crore have been approved.

He further stated that 1,560 km of new railway lines were under development and 717 Road Over Bridges (ROBs) and Road Under Bridges (RUBs) have been constructed.

Several railway projects worth thousands of crores of rupees presently at various stages of execution across the state.

Somanna also said that 73 railway stations in Andhra Pradesh were being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Development Scheme such as Tirupati, Nellore, Visakhapatnam and Rajamundry.

Redevelopment works at Hindupur Railway Station and Sri Sathya Sai Prasanthi Nilayam Railway Station were also in progress, he added.

He assured that the Ministry of Railways would continue to take all necessary steps to further improve passenger amenities, connectivity and train services in the region.

Member of Parliament from Hindupur, Parthasarathi, was grateful that the demand for providing a stoppage to the Vande Bharat Express at Hindupur, raised by the public, has now been fulfilled by the Ministry of Railways.

He said that this decision would benefit a large number of passengers from the region.

Stoppage details

Train No. 20703 Kacheguda–Yesvantpur Vande Bharat Express will arrive at Hindupur at 12:08 hrs and depart at 12:10 hrs.

Train No. 20704 Yesvantpur–Kacheguda Vande Bharat Express will arrive at Hindupur at 15:48 hrs and depart at 15:50 hrs.

Earlier, the upgraded Chakarlapalli Railway Station, developed at a cost of ₹4 crore, was dedicated to the nation by the Minister. The station has been upgraded with improved passenger amenities including two new high-level platforms, a Foot Over Bridge (FOB), platform shelters, water booths and benches, significantly enhancing passenger convenience and safety.

Minister for Backward Classes Welfare, Economically Weaker Sections Welfare, Handlooms and Textiles, Savitha, also joined the programme.
