Apollo Cancer Centres launch ‘End-O Check’ for early detection of ovarian and endometrial cancers

Bengaluru: In a significant stride towards preventive oncology for women, Apollo Cancer Centres (ACCs) have unveiled End-O Check — a dedicated early screening and diagnosis initiative for endometrial and ovarian cancers.

Tailored especially for women aged 45 and above, the programme aims to identify two of the most common and life-threatening gynaecologic cancers at an earlier, more treatable stage.

Often termed the “silent killer,” ovarian cancer typically affects women between 55 and 64 years of age, with symptoms frequently going unnoticed until the disease has progressed.

The End-O Check programme offers risk-based assessments, diagnostic testing, symptom evaluation, and imaging support — particularly for women in the postmenopausal age group, who are at heightened risk.

“As India’s cancer burden is projected to rise to 1.57 million cases by the end of this year, there is a pressing need to shift from reactive treatment to proactive prevention,” said Dinesh Madhavan, President, Group Oncology and International, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.

“End-O Check is a step towards that future — where early detection becomes routine and survival is significantly improved through timely and precise intervention,” he added.

While endometrial cancer often presents with symptoms such as abnormal bleeding, many women fail to seek early medical advice, leading to delayed diagnosis and reduced survival chances.

“Global data shows that when endometrial cancer is diagnosed at a localized stage, five-year survival can reach up to 96 percent,” explained Dr. Rani Bhat, Senior Consultant – Gynae Oncology, Apollo Cancer Centre, Bengaluru.

“However, rising risk factors like obesity, diabetes, early menarche, late menopause, and PCOS are pushing up incidence rates, especially among urban Indian women,” she added.

A key diagnostic component of End-O Check is the use of transvaginal ultrasonography (TVS) — a critical imaging tool that allows clinicians to detect subtle abnormalities before symptoms become severe.

“Radiology plays an essential role in the early identification of gynaecologic cancers,” noted Dr. Aruna R Patil, Senior Consultant and Head of Radiology at Apollo Cancer Centre, Bengaluru.

“Through early imaging, we can catch potentially dangerous changes at a stage when treatment is far more effective,” she added.

With the End-O Check initiative, Apollo Cancer Centres reinforces its mission to empower women to take control of their health through awareness, regular screening, and timely action — making cancer care more about prevention than cure.
