Bengaluru: MB Patil, Minister for Large and Medium Industries, recently stated that a kiosk named ‘Kalaloka’ stall at Kempegowda International Airport’s Terminal-2 will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister in September.

The aesthetically designed stall will showcase and sell six products representing Karnataka’s heritage, along with 28 Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged products.

The Minister shared this information after chairing a progress review meeting with senior officials of the Visvesvaraya Trade Promotion Centre (VTPC) and the Department of Industries and Commerce.

Products such as coffee, Mysuru silk, Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited’s (KSDL) Sandal soap, Lidkar items, handicrafts, and handwoven goods traditionally associated with Karnataka will be featured at the stall.

In addition, 28 other GI-tagged products, including the famous Channapatna toys, will also be made available to those interested in them.

The Minister emphasised that international-standard packaging, design and branding will be ensured to attract global consumers.

Further, another Kalaloka stall is being planned at the International Lounge, for which tenders will be invited shortly.

The first stall, slated to open in September, will span an area of 130 square metres.

Kempegowda Airport authorities have provided the space at a 50 percent concession on rent, Patil explained.
