Bengaluru: The Hubballi Division of the South Western Railway (SWR) has introduced ‘Margadarshak’, a digital map and navigation system at SSS-Hubballi railway station to enhance traveller experience, an official release has said.

This system, which claims to be user-friendly, features a 43-inch touch screen kiosk placed at the station entrance and offers passengers an interactive map to easily locate facilities such as platforms, footbridges, escalators, drinking water, waiting halls, catering stalls and more.

The release says that it is akin to using Google Maps inside a station.

The key highlights of Margadarshak are as follows:

  1. 24/7 self-service touchscreen kiosk.
  2. Multilingual support (Kannada, Hindi and English).
  3. Personalized navigation with a virtual tour of the station.
  4. Mobile access through QR codes placed around the station.

Passengers can also scan the QR code using their smartphones to access the map, locate themselves and navigate smoothly across the station premises. This smart system is aimed at reducing confusion, saving time, and improving the overall passenger experience.

Hubballi Division plans to expand this facility to other stations such as Dharwad, Belagavi, Ballari, Gadag, Koppal, Bagalkot, Vijayapura and Vasco in the future, the release adds.
